Creating Content Pages

In Chapter 3: Creating Content Pages reminds every webmaster that the appearance and site presentation are not the only qualifications of a great website. Your content is the meat, the heart and soul of your site. Without the right kind of stuff you write, your site will probably not be visited by people, even if you know SEO.

Keyword Rich Body Text

You don’t have to be an awesome writer or as poetic as Shakespeare to get this done. All you need is to know how you can write paragraphs that integrate keywords and that will make sense to your readers. You should be able to know what the most appropriate keywords for your niche can be used, and that you can write content that includes those keywords not just for the sake of mentioning them, but for the purpose of making it sensible and informative to your site visitors. Examples of that will be shown later in this section.

Remember that keywords serve as beacons so that search engines can find your site and include it in the listing. Also, an important thing to note is that quantity does not translate to quality. Repeating keywords several times in text may make your site a candidate for spam. Spam will be discussed a little later in Chapter 10.

Keep in mind that you don’t have to make your pages text-filled, as it can be a labor for visitors to read everything you have written on it. The key is to be clear and concise with your message.
Start with an introduction of what your site is about, keeping in mind to use keywords you have gathered through research. These keywords are more easily seen by crawlers when they are placed near the top of the page, such as in headings or paragraph titles.

At the minimum, if you have text that is about 500 words long, you can integrate keywords or key phrases at least four to five times within the text. You should do so in a manner that your sentences will still makes sense, and not just for the sake of stuffing in as many keywords as you can.

For example, if your website talks about purchasing specific anti-depressant drugs or medication online, your keywords of choice may be the following:

Generic Lexapro
Buy Lexapro
Order Lexapro

If you are to write a short description of the products your website offers, you can use these keywords you have researched in a fashion that is sensible and relevant to your website.

It will be nothing out of the ordinary to simply put in “Generic Lexapro! Buy Lexapro! Order Lexapro!” at the top of your web page. Since we are on the topic of creating content that makes sense, then here are some ways by which you can integrate these keywords into your sentences.

“Generic Lexapro is known as escitalopram, according to medical sources, and it is a drug used to treat depression and anxiety in many patients. For patients who wish to order Lexapro, it is advisable to seek the help of a medical professional, as some contraindications to other medications may exist. To avoid any unwanted side effects, a doctor must first be consulted before a person will buy Lexapro or administer it to him or others.”

If your site is less informative and more for selling the product, here is another way to use the keywords you have researched:

“Did you know that you can buy Lexapro at a fraction of the cost? Generic Lexapro, also known as escitalopram is available with a prescription, and will save you the costs as compared to purchasing the branded version. If you want to order Lexapro from our site, please fill in the information sheet below.”

It is also very important to remember that plagiarism is a crime punishable by law. No matter how great a website’s content can be, it is illegal to lift directly those words written by the author and use them as your own without acknowledgement from the source.

If you think copying site content from competitors or similar websites within your niche will save you time, think again. Writing tons of content for site pages can be a tough task, which is why you have the option of hiring writers to do the job, if you’re willing to shell out the extra budget.

Keep in mind that there are now internet services and software available that can detect how much of the text in a website is copied from other sources. It pays to do a little more research beyond that of keywords, but also on relevant stuff you can add to the text in your website.

Some of the sites that offer content checking services are Copyscape at http://www.copyscape.com. All you do is type in the domain name or the URL of the site you want to check, and the tool will list down sites that contain the highest amount of copied content.
